Nurture Yourself To Health

Who needs to read the Nurture to Health eBook?

“You have a body and you are in charge of what you put into your body and how you take care of your body, every day.”

Reality check!!!  Is your body at optimum health?   How would you know?

Sometimes simple symptoms like bloating and period pain suggest you’re not in optimum health but often the solutions seem so out of reach that we push them to the back of our priority list.

  • Irregular periods

  • Period pain

  • Bloating

  • IBS

  • Acne

  • Infertility

  • Insomnia

  • Low energy

  • Low libido

  • Erectile dysfunction problems

These symptoms whisper to us but until we are seriously ill – they can go ignored.

Our body tries to tell us but often we ignore the signs until the body screams and shouts to be heard.

Maybe you have gone to your GP for advice and they have told you your symptoms are ‘normal’, or the opposite end of the scale where they’ve jumped to prescribing medication, which can be useful for managing symptoms but has getting your body to optimum health been considered or planned for?

It can really knock your confidence and leave you feeling very out of control of your own health and your future.

Then you look for possible solutions and here you are!

As much as I’d love to – I’m not physically able to see every one of you personally, so putting together this series of advice, information and tips in the Nurture to Health eBook means this is an effective first step, and for some – the only step you’ll need.

Helping you confidently help yourself.

The thing I consider to be the most important aspect of my approach is that I don’t simply treat people, I educate them so that they can better understand their bodies and have the self-care tools that they can use to help themselves.  There is so much you can do at home.

Yes, you might still need to come and see me, or a medical professional, but by taking these small steps – you are taking control on a daily basis so it may reduce the amount of treatment you need. Saving you time and money, and for me - my simple, easy tips can help more people that I could ever fathom to help in my clinic!

Keep it simple

Social media loves dramatic jaw-dropping attention-grabbing info graphics that promise dramatic instant results!

In reality, gentle, simple tips that are easy to incorporate into your daily routine might not make any headlines, but they do make an impressive improvement to your health.

Covid 19 has taught us that simple things are the most effective. It’s not that we didn’t wash our hands before – we just didn’t allow the soap to be on our skin for long enough. Knowing that those 20 seconds are what we need to effectively disinfect our hands is mind-blowingly invaluable. And yet – so simple!!

Light bulbs will go off as you read this eBook.

And you will have the confidence to incorporate these incredibly simple tips so they will become second nature and you won’t even notice you’re doing them.

Good health shouldn’t cost a lot of money.

The wellness industry, while good intentioned, is a profit-driven industry that dangles carrots of expensive supplements, tools and programmes – and there is no magic wand that can magic good health!

We have been programmed to think that accumulating lots of ‘things’ will be the solution, when in reality we have the ability to make small changes ourselves that cost next to nothing.

I am always being asked – what should I take for XXX?  Instead of thinking – what drug/supplement should I take for ‘insert ailment here’ think, what does my body need me do to support it better? What does my body need me to stop doing?

The term ‘baby steps’ also applies to health.  Small things all add up.

Everything in the Nurture to Health eBook works alongside Western medical practices, so it is safe to do with any medicine you currently prescribed by your GP.  This process is part of a healing journey that brings us balance and supports the needs of your body to bring it to good health.

If you’d like some practical advice that actually makes sense and that you can do quickly and easily every day?   The tips in the Nurture to Health eBook are for you.

It will give you the confidence to take control of your own health, which is something incredibly positive for your body and mind.

Real Life - PMS/PMDD

PMS/PMT/PMDD

PMS/PMT/PMDD

This has been written by one of my clients. She gives her experience of PMS/PMDD and how acupuncture and herbal medicine helped her become symptom free. This was a simple case of Liver Qi Stagnation which responded well to acupuncture and the herbal medicine formula I prescribed for her. It is important to note that no two cases are the same as even though the illness and symptoms are the same, the people suffering are different. Note that treatment is completed and acupuncture is no longer necessary but she enjoys it so attends once a month.

Over the past few years, my PMS got worse to become severe, PMS.  It was debilitating! two days every month I was unable to leave the house. Getting out of bed was a struggle and trying to stop crying was even harder! The panic attacks were increasingly worse. Then a few days later, when my period started, I would be my normal, happy self again and I would feel great for two weeks. Then like clockwork, I would start to feel the worrying and overthinking creeping in which would progressively get worse until I was due my period again and back to the impossible tasks of trying to stop crying, house bound self with numerous panic attacks.

I had no life as I started to spend my two good weeks worrying about what the later part of my cycle would bring. I worried about work as I was unable to face it for two days a month. It was a horrible routine my body was stuck in. I worried about my family and partner, they had to deal with me, they tried so hard in those horrible days to help me get through it.

Even with going to the doctor numerous times, they just kept handing me antidepressants and reiterating “we can’t refer you on for further investigations until you try the antidepressants”. They wanted me to take them continuously, then decided for me to take them only for my two bad weeks, stop them for my two good weeks, then back on them for two weeks... and so on for 3 months to see how I go on.

Even with me continuously telling them I am fine 2 weeks of a month; I feel my normal self and could deal with anything. Then bang, my two weeks downhill would hit. Also, I couldn’t risk the bad weeks to get any worse because I had already hit my lowest low during that time.

With this in mind, my head strong “I know I’m not depressed” attitude, my sister (who is a nurse) and myself did our own investigations. I knew it had to be hormone related as I was fine until ovulation hit.

My sister then found out about PMDD and my symptoms matched exactly.

A friend then recommended Maria to me, and what a life changing recommendation this was! From my first treatment with Maria, I felt more in control of my body and emotions. I had my last panic attack over lunch, the day after I was with Maria, but I noticed something different, I was able to gather myself together and go back into work. Something which I was never able to do! Previously I would have been inconsolable and just had to go home!

That was in June!

Now, thanks to treatments by Maria, taking the herbal medicine she prescribed and following her advice, I have been able to get my like back.

Now when it is around my period I just have minimal PMS symptoms, such as slight cramping and bit more tired, which I couldn’t be happier about.

Thanks to Maria, I have learnt more about my body and cycle than I ever thought I would. My cycle is healthy and I feel in control of my body. I will continue with monthly acupuncture with Maria to make sure I do keep in check with myself and to keep body in order, but I see these treatments as “me time” which I thoroughly look forward to.
